This movie is definitely a movie I've seen, it is beautiful and I really love the soundtrack. I actually could've relate a lot, it's a unique movie and it's also sad. I wished he didn't die

I have seen it!! I saw the director's cut, if you haven't seen it, what are you waiting for? It makes the film easier to understand. I cried at the end...

I had to watch it twice and ponder a lot after the second showing to even get close to 'getting it'. I love that film! I love the way it portrays what should be normal as being fv<ked up (Jim Cunningham, saint, do gooder, pedophile and the way the school is run by a bunch of dry, un-inspirational nitwits, for example) and all the messed up stuff Donnie is seeing as the truth. I thought that was a nice little spin on things. I also love the way you're drawn into the movie from Donnie’s point of view. Like when Donnie is sat in the cinema and he asks Frank when will this stop, at which point you're wondering the same thing... unsure of whether it's real or not, Frank gives a cryptic answer that leaves you as confused as Donnie does. I'm still slightly unsure about the ending though. Was that portal at the end created for Donnie or was it just a random event? If it was just a random event, did Frank allow Donnie to live just so he may experience a bit of fun before he died? His girlfriend mentioned that she'd like to be given a second chance in order to replace bad memories with good, and that point was repeated as they sat in the car, but how does that apply to Donnie? If Donnie chose to live then he would have experienced a different future because Frank wouldn't have been involved. So what was the point of that whole fucked up experience? Was all that mess necessary for Donnie to go back through the portal? If so, did he experience that possible future just for the sake of experiencing it? Also. Donnie was afraid to die alone, a big fuss was made about this yet I don't how that effected his actions in the film? Basically, I’m confused about the reasons why he went back after experiencing that possible future frank put him through. What was the purpose of it all? So what's different about the directors cut? Oh, and for the record, I cried at the end as well

You did? Well, it's clear it also appealed to you or else you wouldn't. Especially if you're not used into doing this. I saw Donnie Darko really years ago, maybe two, I'm not sure so it's possible I no longer remember everything but back then I played the movie more than twice. I also didn't get the twist and why at the end this plane crashes in his room, (it was a plane item, right?). On the website www.donniedarko.com there is a riddle/puzzle I really tried my best to solve but I really couldn't On this site you can also find a lot of information how to understand this movie which has many interpretations and also how to get into the site to finish the puzzle: www.stainlesssteelrat.net/ddfaq.htm I think it's definitely a film with depth. Oh, I don't think the ending was a random event. On this site above it tells that somehow the universe (this movie is kind of science fiction) I'm a bit confused at the moment as I'm reading (it's very interesting), I really think you should check it out, it explains a lot about the scenes and the events. .

Thanks for those links rain. It's good to know that the film is supposed to be cryptic... I don't feel as stupid now . The Donnie Darko page really helped! The riddles are really quite straight forward... unless you have a pop up blocker on; if that's the case then it's pretty much impossible! That second link makes a whole world of sense. I'm slightly dissapointed that i couldn't figure it out my self but it's nice to know what the film was about.

It's an amazing movie... truely one of the best i've seen. I'd recommend watching the directors cut tho as it explains things a little more.
