don't know if i should be making new threads, um whether i have a right to after not being here for so long....someone tell me if thats true.... but, i just saw it it was so damned sad who could've though STAR WARS could've reached the level of high Tragedy still sucks in places, like the CGI overload as always, but overall, what a sucker punch the part that worked for me the best was the conclusion of the climatic duel And Ewan Megregor is standing on the hillside, watching Anakin, basically just an upper torso after some nifty lightsaber work, pouring his heart out "You were my Brother, I Loved you!"& "I have failed you Anakin" and the whole time anakin is just screaming "i hate you!" like hes yelling at his parent, (which i guess is kinda what Obi-Wan is to him) not hearing a word the older man is saying then POOF, he bursts into flames on account of being too close to the lava and Obi-Wan just leaves him there to die, screaming in agony.... Rarely has anything in the entire series been so visceral and hard-hitting....you feel bad this angry, confused kid has sunken so low, you feel bad for him even, and hes just mowed down little children in cold-blood and force-choked his pregnant wife.... really makes you feel conflicted, feeling for this monster, Darth Vader, which hes become all becaue of his own selfishness and thirst for power i love when good guys go bad, or bad guys go good for that matter it always makes for an interesting story evil people don't usually see themselves as evil, and thats true here, the whole time hes justifying these horrible things hes doing and your just shaking your head at how hes been played and exploited by Palpatine (the ugly old guy) you guys can have Lord Of the Rings , its just too....perfect and polished, like its got no heart Its STAR WARS for me man, even with its stupid moments a' plenty its flawed, but thats part of the charm now i know the whole story, and it makes the older movies that much more effective and impactful knowing whats really beneath the mask and why everything came to be as it was in the originals rantrantrant....sorry you just see, read or hear something that moves you and you wanna share

Why should you think bad about yourself? Anyone, a unknown newbie or guest can start threads, including you. There's nothing to be bad about. I have seen the first two movies of Star Wars and like you, I find it more interesting than the Lord of the Rings, it's too perfect for me too. And it's not incredibly sad or tragic.
I am more interested now that you say you've watched the movie, though I would know the good and bad parts coming because you told me so! It doesn't matter though =) It's nice to read your comments. Now I am a bit curious. What happened to Almadala (can't spell her name well), the queen Anakin loved? Did he kill her? I'm going to check out the website. I am dying of curiosity. This Friday I will look if it's still in the cinema, so I will watch it too. I didn't expect it to this good as you say, that's why I never bothered to go before. (The second part where you see the love between Anakin and Almadala blossom, worked a lot on my nerves, or could be that I am jealous that they looked so happy).
Enfin, thanks for the review, it will be of use when I go this Friday, lets see if it's in the cinema's too!

~~Warning:Long review!~~
What a depressing movie it was and to make it worse I had a nightmare, Darth Vader's head was in my bedroom! lol I am such a kid. This movie is the reason why I like science fiction so much, I thorougly enjoyed it and I must thank you ghost, intensely for recommending it to me!
The movie starts great, you see so many things on screen, an interesting battle with Anakin and Obi-Wan together, so many nice things in the universe, even when spaceships explode, the effect is so nice. I think they had great eyes for the details (other than Lord of the Rings which was dull, compared to Star Wars), which impressed me a lot, it made me see that this is the best movie I have seen in a really long while.
I only got annoyed when my mum decide to use the cinema to take a nap, she always seem to do that. I don't blame her though, she is always busy and hardly takes a rest.
It also surprised me how Anakin has grown! He is changed so much... but unfortunately I couldn't sympathize with him and Padme as a couple, the love between him and Padme (finally, I know her name) was rather superficial. There is no intimate scene that brought me to feel, they actually really lovee each other. There is NO moment they do stuff together which proves me of Anakin's loyalty and obsession that he later obtains to desire Padme's immortality.
Master Yoda gave him a great advice, why didnt he take it? Death is just a transition, it's not the end of anything. All he had to do was learn to let go... but seriously, Anakin's transformation into the Dark Force was really very interesting, he was the most interesting of the entire movie! I personally think this actor is great in his role as a bad person, he has this dark mask on, I saw it in the previous movies already, there just was something dark about him even when he'd smile. It was this evilish grin which was slowly showing himself when he became friends with Palpatine. Argghhh.. That guy manipulated him so badly! He even killed kids, and that while he was going to have children himself, why??
I found it so so sad to see how Obi-Wan finished him by cutting his legs off and where he started burning, it left me in disbelief and hoping that Anakin would feel regret or suddenly switch to become the old good person he was! It was really heart-breaking. I felt so much sympathy for him, even he was evil. The words he screamed 'I hate you', kept echoing in my sore heart. In just awhile, all the beauty he had disappeared completely, which would later make him a black shield of Darth Vader. He has gained so much power that it frightened me when he screamed hearing of Padme's death and killed people with this dark yell.
I was so disappointed when it ended! I went immediately to the bathroom, with my mum who needed it and a woman came telling me how great the movie was and that it's all in series. I asked it whether or not there would come another part, she muttered something I couldn't understand.
I once saw an old Star Wars movie where a young Jedi fights Darth Vader, who is also his father (this movie also explains it, he got kids but they got separated from him for their own good), so I am wondering will there be another part??? THERE MUST BE!!! It only a bummer that Anakin (the actor who played him), won't be in it anymore. I already heard how his voice changed, so someone else is playing Darth Vader..
It was an amazing movie! WONDERFUL! Too bad Anakin had to become a monster but at least it made things more fascinating.
Thank you once more for recommending it to me!!

I'm rereading your post, (the original first one), and I guess there will be no other part I will have to see the old ones, especially where the boy gets into a duel with Darth Vader who is his father. I am so anxious and curious about how it went,... If I have to believe Padme, there is still a bit of love left in him... and I was looking forward to see it in a next movie! Grrrrrr... It was ... unexplicable awesome. My mum rated it 9, just because he strangled his own wife and you call that love? *shakes head more in disbelief*

OMG RAIN you have'nt seen the originals!!?? A NEW HOPE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK or RETURN OF THE JEDI? ?? go in that exact order, and you'll have the entire story, and it has a happy ending so don't worry, episode 3 is just the middle of the whole thing, these new ones were just telling the backstory of the original trilogy with Luke Skywalker, Vader's son i'm glad you liked it and felt gut-punched by it too it would'nt be sucessful if it had'nt have moved you

I haven't seen the originals, no! I tried to look for them up online, they are too old in my opinion to find a good VHS copy. I did read a few synopsis of the last three ones and I found out that Darth Vader kills Palpatine and Luke becomes the Jedi who will have to learn the new generation about the Jedi teachings. I hope to see them one day on tv, they have to show them.
